Pittsburgh-Ireland International Lung Conference Brings Global Experts to Ireland

2023 International Lung Conference
The 2023 Pittsburgh-Ireland International Lung Conference – of which UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh were among the lead sponsors – convened approximately 200 pulmonology experts from around the world in Dublin last week.

The conference, entitled, “Precision Medicine in Lung Diseases: From Cellular Mechanisms to Clinical Phenotypes,” took place 16-17 October at the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences. There, international presentations focused on new insights into lung function and diseases by exploring the functions of the lung at the cellular level. Topics included ageing and fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sleep, asthma, acute lung injury, lung cancer, and pulmonary hypertension among others.

Clinical, translational, and basic lung research was also reviewed.

Several experts from UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh presented and served as conference organisers.

In the U.S., UPMC delivers pulmonary care through its Comprehensive Lung Center. In Ireland, our consultants diagnose and treat a wide range of respiratory conditions including sleep apnoea, COPD, asthma, emphysema, fibrosis, and other lung diseases.
