Visitor Information

Visitors to our patients are very welcome at UPMC Whitfield. Situated within minutes of the N25 motorway, the hospital is easy to access and has plenty of parking available. We have an on-site restaurant and shop, providing you with everything you need during your visit with us.

Specific Hospital Guidelines

No Smoking Policy

As you would expect, smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are strictly prohibited in all areas of the hospital and also in the vicinity of entrances.

There is a designated external smoking area, please ask a member of staff for directions. If you are a smoker and would like help to stop smoking, please speak with your doctor or nursing team about the available options.

We are also unable to allow candles, burners or incense within the hospital for safety reasons. Our fire alarm systems are extremely sensitive and are likely to be activated by such products.

In the unlikely event of a fire occurring please follow the advice of our staff who have been trained in fire safety. If you discover a fire, please contact a member of staff or go to the nearest break glass point to raise the alarm.


We ask that visitors refrain from bringing flowers into the hospital as part of our Infection Control and Health and Safety policies.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours are open throughout the day. However, please note we would ask visitors not to attend early in the morning, during mealtimes and avoid late night visits to ensure patient safety and comfort at all times.

Car Parking

Parking is charged at a €4 flat rate fee. Please note that the first 20 minutes of your stay is free.
