Dental treatment may range from basic oral care as well as specialist services including traumatic injuries, restorative care, minor oral surgical procedures and interceptive orthodontics

In some cases in order to carry out comprehensive dental treatment, it may be recommended to put a child to sleep under general anaesthetic . The benefit of this technique is that all of the dental treatment is carried out in a hospital day case visit. The child is put under general anaesthetic by a consultant anaesthetist while the dental treatment is carried out by the Paediatric dentist. The child is cared for by our team of children’s nurses throughout the stay. At UPMC Whitfield each child receives world class care in a child focused environment.
