Information for Patients and Visitors Attending UPMC Hospitals:

If you have respiratory symptoms, cough or shortness of breath, and/or a fever AND have been in Northern Italy*, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, or Iran in the last 14 days, please contact your GP before presenting for admission or visiting the hospital.
*Regions in Northern Italy – Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Emilia –Romagna

Please report to reception upon entry to hospital and perform hand hygiene.

Day Case Patients:

Please ensure that you have made drop-off and pick-up transport arrangements on the day of your procedure. Visitors will not be allowed to remain with day case patients.

Children and Adolescents:

Only one parent/guardian will be permitted with children and adolescents.

Overnight Patients:

NO visitors permitted until further notice.


  • You should always practice good hand and respiratory hygiene.
  • Hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene are a series of actions to take that are designed to reduce the spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19, to yourself and others.
  • These actions include regular handwashing and covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or the bend of your elbow when you cough or sneeze.
