FAITH, a project funded under the Horizon 2020 framework, believes in a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to cancer care and survivorship. FAITH is working towards creating an innovative solution, based on the latest AI technologies, to support the mental wellbeing of post treatment cancer survivors. UPMC in Ireland is proud to be the main Irish pilot and trial site working with partners to assist in the development of this new technology.
UPMC, which operates multiple hospitals and cancer centres in Ireland, today announced that its Board of Directors has unanimously selected Leslie C. Davis to succeed Jeffrey A. Romoff as president and chief executive officer, effective Aug. 1, 2021.
The decision by UPMC to have a Global Technology Operations Centre located at Kilkenny’s MacDonagh Junction site is significant, not only for employment for the south-east region, but also for UPMC’s patients across Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan and China, who will benefit from UPMC’s innovative and integrated approach to the IT systems that support their care.
UPMC has joined with the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and Gaelic Players Association (GPA) to introduce a pilot programme on concussion baseline testing – with the goal of rapidly diagnosing and treating concussions in players. The initiative, which begins today and continues until the end of the 2022 championships, will cover football, hurling and camogie. Both men and women players will participate equally across all codes, including inter-county teams from across the country.
